Dynamic cache management in content delivery networks

چکیده
The importance of content delivery networks (CDN) continues to rise with the exponential increase in generation and consumption electronic media. In order ensure high quality experience, CDNs often deploy cache servers that capable storing some popular files close users. Such edge caching solutions not only availability, but also result higher download rates lower latency. Different from classical eviction-based algorithms, present work formulates placement problem an optimization perspective puts forth online algorithm for same. contrast existing optimization-based solutions, proposed is incremental incurs very low computation cost, while yielding storage allocations are provably near-optimal. can handle time-varying popularity, thereby obviating need periodically estimating demand distribution. Using synthetic real IPTV data, we show policies outperform traditional eviction based techniques terms various metrics.

QoS Dynamic Routing in Content Delivery Networks
Recently, much research in quality of service (QoS) routing has focused on the unicast communication technique. However, Content Delivery Network (CDN) approach becomes popular because CDN enables effective and inexpensive improvement of Internet service quality. Therefore, we analyze in this paper a network processing two kinds of demands: content demands to CDN servers and standard unicast de...
متن کاملOn Coding for Cache-Aided Delivery of Dynamic Correlated Content
Cache-aided coded multicast leverages side information at wireless edge caches to efficiently serve multiple unicast demands via common multicast transmissions, leading to load reductions that are proportional to the aggregate cache size. However, the increasingly dynamic, unpredictable, and personalized nature of the content that users consume challenges the efficiency of existing caching-base...
متن کاملClass-based Cache Management for Dynamic Web Content
Caching dynamic pages at a server site is beneficial in reducing server resource demands and it also helps dynamic page caching at proxy sites. Previous work has used fine-grain dependence graphs among individual dynamic pages and underlying data sets to enforce result consistency. This paper proposes a complementary solution for applications that require coarse-grain cache management. The key ...
متن کاملWeb-Based Management of Content Delivery Networks
Abstract overlay networks have been considered enablers of efficient management for decentralized, large scale service deployments. A Content Delivery Network (CDN) is an example of service falling within this category. The result of our research is WebDMF, a management framework for distributed services based on the Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) family of specifications. Abstract desi...
متن کاملOptimal dynamic replica placement in content delivery networks
Content Delivery Networks (CDN) design entails the placement of server replicas to bring the content close to the users, together with an efficient and content aware request routing. In this paper we address the problem of dynamic replica placement to account for users demand variability while optimizing the costs paid by a CDN provider and the overall performance of the distributed replica ser...
